Customized Boarding
Homestyle, low-stress boarding with behavior in mind. Dogs get individualized attention and reinforcement of basic manners, plus supervised play sessions (if dog social) and general social skill building!
Boarding is available in our home on 1/3 acre in Lakewood, CO. A limited number of dogs stay with us and live as family while you’re away. When not being actively supervised (i.e. during mid-day nap time and overnight for sleeping) they stay safely in large 4x4x5 kennels, listen to relaxing pet music and sleep on cozy elevated beds in the climate-controlled dog room. They get lots of outside play time and potty breaks in our awesome play yard, and playtime with friends if they are up for it. Ultra-slow introductions are done with all other dogs, to set everyone up for success. Manners are reinforced (and taught!) using force-free training methods.
Boarding dogs should be:
up to date on vaccinations
licensed
able to tolerate being in the same room with other dogs (can have physical/visual barriers/distance for reactive dogs—dogs do not have to meet other dogs)
comfortable being kenneled overnight (no barking/confinement distress)
not capable of jumping a 6-foot fence
house trained*
*(Exceptions on intact dogs/dogs that aren’t house trained are made on a case by case basis—especially in the case of puppies enrolled in board & train).
NOTE: At this time, we cannot accommodate Separation Anxiety pups that cannot be left alone/kenneled for short periods. We suggest hiring a separation anxiety-specialist for these pups.
We ask that boarding pups not attend dog parks or commingle with strange dogs for at least two weeks prior to boarding to prevent the spread of communicable diseases! Thank you for your cooperation.

A Typical Day at Kindred Canine:
6-7 am: wake up! Potty break first thing, get some sniffs out and big stretches, and maybe some play with friends.
7-9 am: This is the morning pick up/drop off window, and current guests also get breakfast during this time. Everyone eats breakfast in their kennel so no one feels pressured to share, and gets a nice 20-30 minute break to digest their food before any shenanigans.
9-11 am (ish): Shenanigans! Morning playtime happens regularly from about 9am on. Usually lots of outside, supervised play time with breaks as needed. Social pups will get supervised play together, and less social pups will get one on one play time and/or safe and slow exposure (ultra slow intros) to friends, if they are interested!
11-2 (ish): Nap time. Pups are usually good and ready for a break (whether they realize it or not!) and settle down easily. Everyone gets a peanut-butter filled kong or similar snack if appropriate to work on & help them settle.
2-4 (ish): more shenanigans! If weather is inclement, we’ll do indoor enrichment with snuffle mats, puzzle toys, and other types of enrichment. Otherwise we do as much outside time as possible, since the dogs love it!
4-6pm: is the evening pick up/drop off time, so pups will be out and about with us unless other guests are arriving/departing. If there are no scheduled pick ups, this is often a time the social dogs get to relax together and hang out with us (practicing calmness in proximity to friends!). We’ll also do more outdoor playtime if they’re up for it!
6-7pm: Dinner! Everyone eats in their kennel, plus 20-30 min digestion kennel break after dinner.
7-9pm: more potty breaks, and typically at LEAST one more playtime session outside before we start winding down for bed!
9-10pm: winding down, and then heading to bed! Everyone gets a cookie before bed so they don’t go to sleep hungry. Add-on chews can be purchased to help pups settle before bed.
