Boarding

Homestyle, low-stress.

Homestyle vacation boarding.

Boarding is available to dog/cat/human tolerant dogs in our home on 1/3 acre in Lakewood, CO.  A limited number of dogs (2-3 at a time) stay with us and live as family while you’re away. When not being actively supervised (i.e. during mid-day naptime and overnight for sleeping) they stay safely in large 4x4x5 kennels, listen to relaxing pet music and sleep on cozy elevated beds in the climate-controlled dog room. They get lots of outside play time and potty breaks, and playtime with friends if they are up for it. Ultra-slow introductions are done with all other dogs, to set everyone up for success.

Boarding dogs should be:

  • house trained

  • spayed/neutered

  • up to date on vaccinations

  • licensed

  • dog & cat safe/tolerant

  • comfortable being kenneled

  • not capable of jumping a 6-foot fence.

(Exceptions on intact pets/pets that aren’t house trained are made on a case by case basis—especially in the case of puppies).

NOTE: At this time, we cannot accommodate separation anxiety pups that cannot be left alone/kenneled for short periods

We ask that boarding pups not attend dog parks or commingle with strange dogs for at least two weeks prior to boarding to prevent the spread of communicable diseases! Thank you for your cooperation.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT YOUR PET’S STAY

  • Boarding dogs get their own private "suite", a 4'x4'x5' professional grade kennel to themselves. If they're staying with a friend/family member, kennels can be side by side. Visual barriers can be set up if they prefer privacy from their neighbor. They stay in the kennels overnight and during mid-day nap time. Collars with tags that can snag are removed during kennel-time for safety. Dogs can bring their own personal bed from home, or there are cozy Coolaroo dog cots in each kennel. They also have a constant supply of fresh water. Kennels are sanitized between guests.

  • Access to the "dog room," a 240sqft space that is dedicated to all things dog. There is a gate between the dog room and the rest of the house--if dog guests are integrated with my pets, the gate remains open most of the time and they have full access to the dog room and the house, when supervised! If they aren't able to fully integrate with my pets, they still get full access to the dog room and laundry/kitchen area of the house, and lots of attention either way!

  • The dog room is climate controlled day and night with a WIFI thermostat and kept comfortably between 60-70°F at all times.

  • Stuffed Kong/safe chewing toy when your dog is kenneled during the day (midday nap time, for example).

  • Classical music or Through a Dog's Ear is played at all times--scientifically shown to calm a dog's nervous system.

  • Slow introductions to new dog friends.

  • No introductions for dogs who are too stressed to meet new dogs--and when available, it is possible to reserve the entire kennel room for $200/night if you have a dog/dogs you'd rather not socialize with other dogs, just reach out and we can discuss.

  • Customized feeding based on the dog's normal routines, and basic medication/supplement administration included at no additional charge.

  • Frequent, supervised access to the large, fenced dog yard full of safe obstacles to zoom around and climb on with friends!

  • Reinforcement of existing training, for example asking dogs to "sit" and "wait" before going outside or through gates, redirecting jumping or barking, etc.

  • Extra chews. For $5 per chew, your dog can get a bully stick, a large pig's ear, trachea or similar high quality chew to work on in the evening. Dogs are always supervised when working on a chew.
